Requirements

  • Degree in computer science, software engineering, or related discipline
  • Expertise in Kubernetes orchestration and containerised app deployment
  • Hands-on experience with Azure, AKS, and supporting cloud services
  • Skilled in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, ARM templates, or Bicep
  • Familiar with DevOps practices, CI/CD tools, Git-based version control
  • Strong grasp of NHS information governance, GDPR, and clinical data handling
  • Proven cloud architecture design and documentation capabilities
  • Knowledge of databases: SQL, PostgreSQL, NoSQL, or big data processing
  • Collaborative mindset with stakeholder-facing experience

Salary Details

Starting from £53,755 and rising to £60,504 depending on experience. This includes access to NHS benefits such as generous pension contributions, paid leave, and flexible working policies.

About the Role

This senior cloud engineering post isn’t just about code – it’s about crafting the backbone of research infrastructure that helps power life-saving innovation across the Lancashire and South Cumbria region.

You’ll take charge of designing and deploying scalable Kubernetes-based platforms, embedding security, resilience, and cloud-native best practices from the ground up. Their stack leans heavily on Azure, but your influence will extend across DevOps tooling, performance tuning, and hands-on mentoring.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a subject matter expert on cloud, Kubernetes, and IaC tooling
