Requirements

• Degree in IT or related discipline or equivalent experience
• Microsoft, AWS, or Azure certifications or equivalent technical knowledge
• Experience managing enterprise-scale IT infrastructure with a focus on cloud environments
• Proficient in automation and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools
• Strong communication skills for collaborating across clinical and IT teams
• Proactive problem solver with attention to detail and a learning mindset
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to travel between NHS sites when required

Desirable:

• Project management skills (Prince2, SCRUM)
• ITIL qualification
• Familiarity with Linux, Unix, or OS X systems

Salary Details

Annual salary ranges from £38,682 to £46,580, depending on experience and qualifications. Includes NHS pension, annual leave entitlement, and access to ongoing training and career development opportunities.

About the Role

As a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer, you’ll design, build, and maintain secure and scalable cloud solutions that support the NHS’s most critical systems. Working across platforms like AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, you’ll ensure the infrastructure is optimised for performance, compliance, and resilience.

You’ll automate processes, integrate new tools, and streamline how healthcare data moves safely between departments. Your technical insight will help protect patient information, reduce downtime, and enable clinicians to access what they need when it matters most.

Each decision you make improves the reliability of digital services that power real-world healthcare. It’s technical work with a human outcome, and your expertise will shape how care is delivered across the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and deploy secure cloud environments that support NHS applications and data flow
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve system efficiency and security
