Job Summary
The Senior Data Engineer will be responsible for streamlining and automating processes within the Information Team. The role carries financial responsibility for ensuring accurate information is available for performance management and commissioning. This position requires strong communication, analytical, and management skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Redevelop and improve current data processes to ensure maximum income and data quality.
- Develop and implement changes in information provision to meet national guidelines and Trust requirements.
- Extract, support, and maintain data from Trust Clinical Systems and data warehouse.
- Automate scheduled reports and ensure proper maintenance.
- Present complex and sensitive information using advanced analytics, making it understandable for non-informatics staff.
- Support the implementation of computer system applications affecting information provision.
- Develop reporting processes for Data Assurance and Information Governance requirements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain Power BI Dashboards.
Person Specification
Qualifications (Essential)
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
- Advanced knowledge of T-SQL and scripting languages.
Experience (Essential)
- Proven experience in an Informatics environment.
- Strong background in database management, data manipulation, and data linking.
- Ability to analyze complex data from multiple sources.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (Essential)
- Strong expertise in data collection, analysis, and report development.
- Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and SQL.
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Excel).
- Understanding of risk management and governance.
- Experience with Power BI and dashboard development.
- Ability to manage and work with databases.
- Experience in leading projects.
- Familiarity with report automation software.
- Knowledge of working in an Acute Hospital setting.
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of Python.
- Understanding of NHS Data Dictionary and Trust clinical systems.
