Requirements

  • Experience working with children or individuals with healthcare needs
  • Comfortable working independently and in small, dedicated teams
  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • Compassionate, patient-focused mindset
  • Willingness to work a mix of nights, weekends, and unsociable hours
  • Ability to travel within the community for home or school-based care
  • If progressing to Band 4, commitment to complete Level 4 qualification

Salary Details

This Band 3 role offers a pro rata salary dependent on experience, with the opportunity to progress to Band 4 upon completion of required qualifications.

Here’s a role that goes beyond routine. As a Senior Health Care Support Worker, you’ll be a trusted constant in the lives of children with complex health needs. Working in their homes, schools, or community spaces, you’ll deliver tailored care alongside families and nurses, helping to manage everything from long-term health conditions to life-limiting diagnoses.

This is hands-on work. But it’s also heart-led. You’ll be stepping into a supportive work environment that values integrity, compassion, and teamwork. Whether you’re experienced in child healthcare or just starting your journey, this is a brilliant way to build a meaningful NHS career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, individualised care in homes, schools, or community settings
  • Work alongside families and nursing teams to support complex health needs
  • Follow care plans and contribute to reviews and care adjustments
  • Monitor health changes and communicate effectively with the wider clinical team
  • Support children with mobility, feeding, medication, and communication needs
  • Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to safety procedures
  • Promote dignity, respect, and comfort in every interaction
