Requirements
- Master’s degree in a relevant subject or equivalent senior experience in analytics
- Substantial healthcare modelling and data analysis experience
- Strong leadership background with proven ability to motivate and support staff
- Advanced knowledge of mathematics, statistics, and operational research
- Skilled in using Microsoft Office, with experience in SQL, Python, or R an advantage
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and present at board level
- Deep understanding of health services, public health priorities, and equality and diversity agendas
- Track record of delivering training and development programmes in data science or modelling
Salary Details
This role is offered at Band 8b with a salary between £65,424 and £76,021 per year, depending on experience.
About the Role
This role is all about using data to shape healthcare delivery. You’ll be leading the analytics and modelling team, producing insights that directly influence services across the Health Board. From forecasting future demand to analysing the impact of new policies, your work will provide clarity in complex decisions. You’ll also collaborate with clinicians, public health experts, and senior managers, ensuring evidence sits at the heart of strategy. It’s a big responsibility but also a chance to make a tangible difference to health outcomes across Gwent.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the analytics and modelling team to provide evidence that supports effective healthcare planning
- Develop modelling tools and insight reports that show how changes affect patient care and resources
- Support the Clinical Futures Team in shaping future policy and planning activity for the Health Board
- Work with senior stakeholders to deliver analysis that influences major service changes and IMTP planning
- Provide leadership, training, and mentorship to analysts, building capability across the organisation
- Deputise for the Head of System Planning and Performance when required, ensuring strategic continuity
