Requirements
- Level 3 qualification (A Level, NVQ, or OCN) in Health & Social Care
- Experience supporting therapy programmes in a healthcare setting
- Sound understanding of occupational therapy in stroke rehab
- Knowledge of common health conditions and their impact on function
- Confidence travelling for community access visits
- Computer literacy in tools like Word or Excel (preferred)
- Welsh language skills (preferred, not required)

This Band 4 post offers a salary range from £26,928 to £29,551, based on NHS Agenda for Change pay scales.
About the Role
They’re looking for a Senior Occupational Therapy Assistant to join their dynamic stroke rehabilitation unit. This role is ideal if you enjoy hands-on care and working closely with patients to help them regain independence. You’ll support qualified occupational therapists across clinical and ward settings, taking a lead in discharge planning and community access visits. It’s a practical, high-touch role where you’ll see the real-world impact of your support. Expect a fast-paced yet deeply rewarding day-to-day, with direct patient contact and a voice within the team.
This role matters because it bridges the gap between hospital care and returning home. You’ll help make sure patients feel confident and ready for the transition, while easing pressure on acute services. It’s work that really counts.
Key Responsibilities
- Support daily therapy sessions following OT treatment plans
- Assist with assessments, reporting progress back to therapists
- Issue and demonstrate daily living equipment with patient support
- Help manage therapist diaries and therapy resources
- Join team meetings and contribute to care planning
- Lead on discharge support and community reintegration visits
- Take part in team training and help new staff get up to speed
- Contribute to quality improvement and service development
