Job Summary
An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Peer Support Worker to join the Milton Keynes Community Mental Health Hub’s Diagnosis and Condition Management (D&CM) pathway. This role is targeted at individuals with lived experience of recovery from psychosis or mood disorders, such as depressive disorder or bipolar disorder, who have previously worked in roles like peer support worker or lived experience worker.
Main Duties of the Job
- Hold a caseload and perform key working duties.
- Collaborate with the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) within the D&CM pathway and the broader Hub.
- Work closely with the Community Peer Support Team to support the development and delivery of the D&CM pathway.
- Promote the perspective of lived experience within the team.
- Integrate recovery values across service settings by sharing personal lived experiences to inspire others, challenge stigma, and promote a culture of recovery within the Trust.
Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
- Completion of peer support worker training (preferably accredited).
- Evidence of further training related to personal recovery principles.
- Willingness to undertake or completion of Level 4 accredited “Developing Expertise in Peer Support” course.
Experience
- Demonstrated personal experience of recovery from psychosis or mood disorders.
- Previous use of secondary mental health services.
- Experience working in various health and/or social care settings as a peer support worker.
- Experience supporting individuals with mental health challenges to access opportunities beyond mental health services.
- Recent experience supervising others (in paid or unpaid capacities).
- Experience delivering training and presentations to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work independently, providing group and one-on-one support.
