Scholarships may be necessary for students due to financial constraints or to alleviate some of the financial pressure. Many high school and university students aspire to pursue their undergraduate and graduate studies abroad. However, the high tuition fees and living expenses in developed countries can pose a significant obstacle to realizing this dream. Therefore, financial aid in the form of scholarships or grants can alleviate the financial burden on students. This article highlights seven countries where individuals can apply for fully funded scholarships to pursue higher education.

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program

Given the widespread interest in the American dream, a pathway to leveraging a fully funded scholarship to the United States is by seeking enrollment in the Fulbright Program. Facilitating connections for ambitious and accomplished college seniors, graduate students, and young professionals from diverse backgrounds, the Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers unparalleled opportunities across all academic disciplines, partnering with over 140 nations worldwide, including Morocco. Program participants embark on various endeavors, including pursuing graduate studies, conducting research, or teaching English overseas. The Fulbright scholarship encompasses comprehensive coverage, including full tuition, round-trip travel to one’s home country, health insurance, a living stipend, and visa sponsorship.

Study in Canada Scholarships

The “Study in Canada Scholarships” program, part of Global Affairs Canada’s International Scholarships Program, offers short-term exchange opportunities for eligible students, primarily from African countries like Morocco. Recipients, already enrolled full-time at post-secondary institutions in eligible countries, receive approximately $10,200 for a 4-month exchange. The scholarship covers study permit/visa fees, a flight home, medical insurance, books, supplies, and living expenses. Canadian post-secondary institutions hosting students must be Designated Learning Institutions (DLIs) with current student exchange agreements that waive tuition fees for scholarship recipients.

German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Scholarships

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers fully funded scholarships to international students from eligible countries, including Morocco, who wish to pursue graduate or postgraduate studies in Germany. The program duration is 12-24 months for Master’s degrees and 36 months for PhD degrees. Applicants must hold a four-year Bachelor’s degree that is not more than six years old and should have at least two years of professional experience. Benefits of the DAAD scholarship include free tuition fees, a travel allowance, health and accident insurance, and monthly stipends for living expenses (ranging from 850 to 1200 euros). A wide range of fields of study is available for scholarship application.

Global Korea Scholarship (GKS)

The Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) offers international students the opportunity to study at both undergraduate and graduate levels in South Korea, which has become a top destination for students worldwide. Established by the Government of Korea, the scholarship aims to enhance educational exchanges and foster friendships between participating nations and Korea. Eligible applicants, including Moroccans, must be citizens of partner countries, under 25 for undergraduate programs (and under 40 for graduate programs), have completed high school (or hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree for graduate programs), and maintain an 80% cumulative grade point average (CGPA). Scholarship benefits include round-trip airfare, settlement allowance, monthly allowance, full tuition coverage, and medical insurance.

The UK Chevening Scholarship Program

The United Kingdom Chevening Scholarship is available to students who hold citizenship in a Chevening-eligible country or territory, including Morocco. Applicants must have completed the equivalent of an undergraduate degree, possess a minimum of two years of work experience, apply to three different eligible UK universities, receive an unconditional offer from one of these three, and commit to returning to their home country for at least two years after completing the grant. The scholarship covers full tuition fees for a one-year Master’s program, flight costs, and a monthly living stipend for accommodation and personal expenses.

United Arab Emirates University Scholarship

The United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) in Al Ain provides a diverse array of scholarships for both national and international students interested in pursuing Master’s or PhD degrees in the UAE. These graduate scholarships encompass numerous majors and encompass virtually all expenses associated with one’s studies. This comprehensive support includes full tuition coverage, monthly stipends, medical insurance, and additional bonuses.

Government of Mauritius Africa Scholarship

Lastly, Mauritius, a small island in southern Africa, may not immediately come to mind when considering study abroad options. However, the Government of the Republic of Mauritius offers scholarships to deserving students who are resident citizens of African Union or African Commonwealth countries, including Morocco. These scholarships support full-time, on-campus undergraduate programs at Mauritian public higher education institutions (HEIs). Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in English, have completed high school education successfully, and maintain at least an average grade of 60%. The scholarship covers tuition fees up to a certain amount, provides a living allowance, includes a return economy-class airfare ticket, and offers free health care.
