Requirements

  • Current NMC registration
  • Post-registration experience in oncology, surgery, or plastic surgery
  • Excellent communication and counselling skills
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload
  • Confident working autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Salary Details

Band 6 salary between £35,392 and £42,618 per year, pro rata for part-time hours, in line with the NHS Agenda for Change pay scheme.

About the Role

This role places you at the centre of patient care as the first point of contact for people navigating a sarcoma or skin cancer diagnosis. You’ll act as a keyworker, coordinating holistic care from diagnosis through treatment, surgery, and follow-up. Using your specialist knowledge, you’ll support patients and their families with clear guidance, emotional reassurance, and practical resources. You’ll also collaborate with a wide network of healthcare professionals, influencing care quality through nurse-led initiatives. This is more than a clinical role – it’s a chance to guide patients through some of the most critical moments in their healthcare journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist advice and emotional support to patients and families
  • Act as the patient’s keyworker, coordinating care pathways and resources
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams to ensure joined-up, patient-centred care
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records for continuity of treatment
  • Develop and lead nurse-driven services to enhance care quality
