Requirements

  • UK-recognised Social Work qualification (DipSW, CQSW, CSS, BA, MA)
  • Current registration with the Social Work regulatory body
  • Willingness to complete the Assessed Year in Practice (ASYE)
  • Confident with IT systems and digital case recording
  • Clear understanding of equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice
  • Some experience supporting adults or older people with mental health needs
  • Organised, self-motivated, and committed to delivering person-centred care

Salary Details

£29,970 to £36,483 per year under the NHS Agenda for Change Band 5 pay scale.

About the Role

This Level 1 Social Worker role is perfect for someone looking to step into frontline practice with solid backing. You’ll start with a protected caseload, so you can learn at pace while making a real difference. From assessing needs to supporting care plans, your work will centre on helping adults with physical and mental health conditions live fuller, safer lives.

They’ll support your ASYE with tailored supervision and access to the Social Work Learning Academy, helping you grow into a confident, reflective practitioner. You’ll split your time between the Stafford Civic Offices and remote work, managing your own diary while staying connected to a committed multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry a protected caseload while completing ASYE
  • Work with adults aged 18+ facing physical or mental health challenges
  • Carry out needs assessments, support planning, and safeguarding checks
  • Complete Mental Capacity Act assessments and referral paperwork
  • Build positive partnerships with families, carers, and partner services
  • Maintain accurate, professional records to support care decisions
  • Engage in supervision and ongoing professional development
