Requirements

  • You are qualified to degree level or equivalent in a subject recognised by the Institute of Biomedical Science IBMS.
  • You are registered with the Health Care Professions Council HCPC.
  • You have a minimum of 2 years post registration experience in a Clinical Biochemistry laboratory.
  • You have knowledge of paediatric biochemistry and health and safety issues in pathology.
  • You have experience supervising trainee and support grade staff.
  • Holding an IBMS Specialist portfolio in Clinical Biochemistry is essential or you are working towards it.

Salary Details
This role is offered at Band 5/6 on the NHS Agenda for Change pay scale. Your starting salary will be determined by your relevant experience and qualifications. Are you ready to take this step

Key Responsibilities

  • Validate analytical data prior to reporting ensuring the accuracy that clinicians depend on for critical diagnoses.
  • Operate and maintain complex analytical equipment guaranteeing the reliability of every test result.
  • Train all grades of staff sharing your knowledge to strengthen the entire team.
  • Prioritise work and redirect staff as needed to maintain a smooth and efficient laboratory service.
  • Handle hazardous materials following strict COSHH regulations keeping everyone in the workplace safe.
