Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 or relevant equivalent experience
  • GCSEs in English and Maths at grade C or above
  • Experience working with adults with learning disabilities
  • Experience in healthcare or NHS settings
  • Confidence to work independently and handle complex situations
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to show empathy
  • Basic computer literacy including use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Teams

Salary Details

This is a Band 4 NHS position offering between £31,081 and £33,665 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

About the Role

This role isn’t your typical support job. It’s hands-on, client-facing, and built around making a difference. Working closely with a consultant and epilepsy specialist nurse, the post holder will offer tailored care to adults with epilepsy and learning disabilities in Bexley.

Expect to lead on individual interventions, facilitate group sessions, and work solo in the community. You’ll share caseloads, contribute to reviews, monitor vitals, and support with risk management. Your input will directly shape care plans, training delivery, and the ongoing development of this newly launched service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hold a small caseload of adults with epilepsy and complex needs
  • Carry out community assessments and gather information from clients, carers, and the MDT
  • Monitor vital signs and track seizure patterns
  • Support epilepsy clinics and group sessions for clients and carers
  • Deliver awareness training and emergency medication guidance
  • Liaise with GPs, neurology teams, and other services
  • Attend team and multi-disciplinary meetings to review and plan care
