Requirements
- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy or postgraduate equivalent
- HCPC registration with Licence to Practise
- Strong communication and listening skills that put people at ease
- Able to work closely with diverse children and families
- Confident using tech and writing clear reports
- Team spirit with a genuine passion for inclusive practice
- Keen interest in child development and early years
- Open to learning and growing across care groups
- Willing to travel between school sites in the borough
Salary Details
Starting from 34,521 and rising to 41,956 per year, based on NHS Band 5 scale and experience level.
About the Role
This is more than a first job. It’s a chance to find your voice as a newly qualified therapist while helping children find theirs. Working in schools across Newham, you’ll support kids who face communication challenges, and you’ll see firsthand how your work fuels confidence and progress in the classroom and beyond. You’ll learn by doing, grow alongside experienced professionals, and deliver real impact through a 3-tier service model that spans universal, targeted, and specialist interventions. Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver speech therapy sessions in school settings that empower students
- Build strong working relationships with families, teachers, and colleagues
- Run group workshops and one-to-one interventions with measurable outcomes
- Tailor therapy plans using the latest assessments and evidence-based tools
- Create reports that reflect the voice and progress of each child
- Take part in reflective practice sessions and team case reviews
- Support staff development through training and consultation
- Actively contribute to the team’s vision for inclusive, impactful therapy services
