Requirements

  • Primary medical degree and full GMC registration with license to practice
  • At least 4 years postgraduate experience, 2 of which in a relevant specialty
  • Competency in handling a wide range of emergency cases
  • Experience at Staff Grade or Senior level in Emergency Medicine
  • Provider status in ATLS, ALS, EPLS/APLS (or equivalent)
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • MRCEM, FRCEM, or MRCP preferred

Salary Details

This role is offered at a competitive salary between £58,742 and £97,050 a year, depending on experience and qualifications. The post includes 14 Programmed Activities (PAs) but no on-call commitment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the department when acting as the most senior doctor on site
  • Deliver high-quality, timely emergency care across a full range of presentations
  • Supervise junior doctors, medical students, and ENPs
  • Support follow-up clinics and patient review activities
  • Validate X-ray and pathology results to ensure safe discharge
  • Collaborate closely with nurses, GPs, and allied health professionals
  • Be a visible and effective role model for professionalism and leadership

This role requires an enhanced DBS check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
