An opportunity is available for caring and compassionate individuals to join a dynamic and forward-thinking Endoscopy team. This role is open to newly qualified or registered nurses who are enthusiastic, motivated, and resilient. The successful candidate will work within one of two JAG-accredited Endoscopy units in the Trust, initially based at the Royal Preston Hospital, with the expectation of providing cross-site coverage at Chorley District Hospital as needed.
Previous experience in Endoscopy is desirable but not essential. Comprehensive training and support, including an eight-week supernumerary period with a dedicated mentor and Clinical Educator, will be provided.
Main Duties of the Role
The role involves working collaboratively within a dedicated team to deliver patient-centered, clinically effective, and compassionate care. Responsibilities include ensuring a positive Endoscopy experience for patients and participating in a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
Key Procedures at Royal Preston Hospital
- GI procedures such as OGD, Colonoscopy, Flexible Sigmoidoscopy, Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR), ERCP, and Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS).
- Participation in the National Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (BCSP).
- Diagnostic bronchoscopies.
- GI Emergency Bleed rota.
- Therapeutic bronchoscopies, including Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS), Trans Bronchial Needle Aspiration (TBNA), and related procedures.
Key Procedures at Chorley District Hospital:
- GI procedures such as OGD, Colonoscopy, Flexible Sigmoidoscopy, EMR, ERCP, and Breath Tests.
- Diagnostic bronchoscopies.
- Participation in the BCSP.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Education
- Essential: Registered Nurse with NMC Registration, Diploma or Degree in Nursing, or working toward a degree.
- Desirable: Placement experience in Endoscopy, evidence of continuing education, or NMC-recognised mentorship qualification.
Knowledge and Experience
- Essential: Understanding of Endoscopy and JAG standards, awareness of clinical governance, and relevant policies.
- Desirable: Leadership knowledge, JAG awareness, and clinical competence in Endoscopy.
