Requirements

  • Degree in Radiotherapy – Fresh graduates for 2025 welcome
  • HCPC Registration – Or be on track for registration within 2025
  • IELTS Score of 7 – For international applicants
  • Strong Clinical Judgement – Ready to assess patients’ fitness for treatment independently
  • Experience with Elekta Machines – A plus but not mandatory
  • Previous NHS Experience – Nice to have, not essential

The salary ranges from £29,970 to £36,483 per year, depending on experience, plus a £2,000 Retention and Recruitment Bonus to sweeten the deal.

About the Role

You’ll step into a radiotherapy service that covers planning, simulating, calculating, and treating cancer patients across Brighton and Eastbourne. They’ll back you with set competency training to run Linear Accelerators independently, applying advanced clinical knowledge every step of the way.
Expect to handle image-guided verification, ensure precise patient setups within a tight three-millimetre tolerance, and liaise effortlessly with the wider multidisciplinary team. You’ll also get hands-on with top-end technology like Elekta Linacs, CT scanners, and advanced treatment planning systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use electronic imaging to ensure precise patient positioning before and during radiotherapy
  • Adjust setups based on clinical judgement and tumour response
  • Assess patient fitness before each treatment session
  • Liaise with clinicians, dietitians, and Macmillan teams when extra support is needed
  • Analyse blood and urine results, advising treatment continuation or suspension
  • Deliver accurate radiation beams, protecting vital structures
  • Perform daily QA tolerance checks on equipment
