Requirements
- Professional registration with NMC or HCPC
- Higher education qualification in a relevant clinical field
- GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English, or ENIC/NARIC certified comparability
- Evidence of senior-level experience post registration
- Excellent history taking and consent communication
- Strong leadership mindset and good team collaboration skills
- Keen to work flexibly in a busy trauma and orthopaedic environment
Salary Details
Starting from 46,148 at Band 7, rising to 52,809 at Band 8a upon successful programme completion and competency demonstration
About the Role
This is more than a training opportunity, it’s a fast-track into advanced trauma care. As a Trainee ACP in Trauma and Orthopaedics, you’ll work side by side with clinicians while gradually stepping into a more autonomous role. Expect a steep learning curve and real responsibility as you support assessments, investigations, and treatment plans, especially for spinal conditions.
You’ll contribute to ward rounds, multidisciplinary meetings, and direct patient care under supervision. Over time, you’ll lead clinical decisions and develop the expertise to manage undiagnosed and complex patient presentations confidently. With hands-on support and access to the Advanced Practice Post Graduate Diploma, this is your chance to carve out a fulfilling, long-term NHS career.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and manage trauma and orthopaedic patients under supervision
- Carry out investigations and initiate care plans within defined protocols
- Join multidisciplinary rounds and contribute to patient flow and safety
- Develop a strong clinical portfolio aligned with HEE’s ACP framework
- Rotate through various trauma care areas for a well-rounded experience
- Guide and support nursing colleagues through collaborative practice
