Requirements

  • A minimum two-year postgraduate qualification in Psychotherapeutic Counselling, Psychotherapy, Counselling, or Counselling Psychology (450 contact hours + 100 supervised practice hours).
  • Registration with BACP, UKCP, or HCPC, working toward accreditation.
  • Experience working with mental health in a professional capacity.
  • Understanding of evidence-based psychological therapies and their role in primary care.
  • Ability to manage caseloads, conduct risk assessments, and work under pressure.

Salary Details

This role is offered at NHS Band 6, with a salary between £38,682 and £46,580 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.

About the Role

As a Trainee Dynamic Interpersonal Therapist (DIT), you’ll train and work within the Wolverhampton Talking Therapies Service, providing integrated patient-centred care for individuals experiencing depression and anxiety. You’ll learn to deliver NICE-approved interventions and gain hands-on experience supported by expert Step 2 and Step 3 practitioners.

You’ll be supported to enrol in the 20-day DIT training programme with the Anna Freud Centre, ensuring you develop the specialist skills needed to deliver impactful therapy. You’ll also receive supervision, participate in training, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver compassionate, high-quality care.
