Start your career in healthcare with the Healthcare Support Worker Development (HCSWD) Programme in Learning Disabilities. NHS Professionals Limited offers a 6-month paid supervised placement, providing all the training, support, and guidance required to become a Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW).

Participants will work at Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, gaining valuable on-the-job experience. Throughout the programme, trainees will work towards achieving the widely recognised Care Certificate, while enjoying the flexibility and benefits of being an NHS bank member.

Pay Rates

  • Days: £11.44 per hour
  • Saturdays/Nights: £16.13 per hour
  • Sundays/Bank Holidays: £20.94 per hour

Main Duties of the Job

  • Assist in caring for individuals with learning disabilities by supporting their daily living needs, such as hygiene, mobility, and personal comfort.
  • Help develop life skills, including cooking, budgeting, and providing emotional support.
  • Take basic observations, explain treatments, and update health records accurately.
  • Contribute to health promotion activities for service users and their families.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, assisting registered nurses and healthcare practitioners.
  • Comply with Trust policies, including Safeguarding, and Infection Prevention and Control standards.

Key Requirements

  • Applicants must be over 18 by the time classroom training begins.
  • Ability to work at least 30 hours per week, covering early, late, and night shifts.
