Job Summary

Are you passionate about supporting mothers and their babies? The Community Midwifery team at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton (UHDB) is looking for a committed and enthusiastic individual to join a Devonshire team based at Florence Nightingale Community Hospital. This is your chance to contribute to the delivery of outstanding maternity services in Derby city.

They have a role for both experienced Maternity Support Workers and those seeking to train in this rewarding field. For trainees, they offer all the necessary training at a Band 2 level, with the opportunity to progress to Band 3 upon completion of required qualifications.

Main Duties of the Job

  • Work closely with community midwives to provide care to women and their babies in both home and clinic environments.
  • Support antenatal clinics and offer assistance to postnatal mothers in the community.
  • Assist with infant feeding, venepuncture, and newborn screening tests (training provided).
  • Perform some administrative duties and demonstrate excellent time management skills.
  • Travel between multiple locations in the Derbyshire Dales and Amber Valley, requiring access to your own vehicle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide essential support to midwives in delivering antenatal and postnatal care.
  • Engage in newborn screenings, infant feeding support, and other clinical tasks once qualified.
  • Assist with administrative duties and help ensure smooth clinic operations.
  • Ensure timely and effective communication between patients, families, and healthcare teams.

Requirements

  • GCSE Maths and English (grade C or above) or equivalent.
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Maternity Support, Care, or a related qualification.
  • Full driving license and access to your own vehicle for work purposes.
