Requirements
- BSc in Clinical Physiology, Exercise Science, or a related field
- ARTP Part 1 and 2 or equivalent qualifications
- Prior experience working with patients in clinical or healthcare settings
- Clear communication and team collaboration skills
- Ability to manage workloads, multitask, and stay organised under pressure
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel

This role offers a competitive NHS Band 5 salary range between 31,944 and 34,937 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
About the Role
If you’re someone who loves hands-on work in a supportive work environment, this trainee opportunity could be your next big step. Based at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, with some work across Royal London Hospital and Mile End Hospital, you’ll be part of an expanding service that delivers high-quality diagnostics to patients across London. You’ll get involved with core respiratory tests like spirometry and lung volumes, as well as advanced procedures including cardio-pulmonary exercise tests, skin prick testing, and overnight sleep studies.
This is your chance to grow alongside a passionate team, learning to operate modern diagnostic equipment while contributing to a service that’s critical to improving patient outcomes. Whether you’re setting up a sleep study or supporting a complex asthma diagnosis, every task you take on will directly impact lives.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out essential diagnostic tests for both respiratory and sleep assessments
- Work closely with consultants, nurses, and other physiologists to support patient-centred care
- Maintain and calibrate technical equipment to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Support with patient triage and preparation before testing procedures
- Assist in developing streamlined diagnostic pathways to improve service delivery
- Document patient results with attention to detail and data security
- Actively contribute to audit and quality improvement projects
