About the Role
This is hands-on work that keeps ambulances mission-ready. As a Vehicle Maintenance Technician, you’ll be based at the Chertsey workshop, working on a large fleet including Mercedes Sprinter and Vito, Fiat Ducato, Skoda, Iveco, and DAF vehicles.
You’ll inspect, service, and repair essential systems and emergency equipment, keeping things roadworthy and compliant. This job isn’t just about fixing vans. It’s about enabling care teams to save lives. You’ll recover broken-down vehicles safely, prepare ambulances for ministry testing, and use diagnostic tools to solve tricky issues.
With main dealer training on offer and real opportunities to grow, this role gives you both stability and variety. And because the workshop runs 7 days a week, you’ll be part of a rota that respects your time while supporting urgent needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Service and repair a fleet of specialist ambulances and support vehicles
- Carry out inspections, testing, and diagnostics to high safety standards
- Recover broken-down vehicles without additional risk or damage
- Communicate effectively with managers and colleagues about scheduling and repairs
- Prepare vehicles for Class IV and VII testing as required
- Follow safety procedures to protect yourself, the team, and the public
- Apply company maintenance policies and update vehicle records
