About the Role:
As a Ward Clerk at NNUH, you’ll be an essential part of the ward team, helping to streamline operations and support all members in providing top-quality service. You’ll work closely with the clinical team within a multidisciplinary framework, playing a crucial role in ensuring smooth patient care and efficient ward management.

Your day-to-day tasks will involve managing patient admissions, transfers, and discharges using PAS & Ward View systems. You’ll be the first point of contact for patients, relatives, and visitors, greeting them warmly and directing them appropriately. Managing non-medical phone calls and emails will also be part of your responsibilities, ensuring efficient communication within the ward and with other departments.

You’ll be in charge of keeping the ward’s white board updated in real-time, providing accurate bed state information to the bed management and ward coordinator teams. This role also involves booking porters for patient transfers, clinical cleans, and general maintenance using the i.serco booking system.

Handling patient notes is another crucial aspect of the job. You’ll liaise with other departments to request and collect necessary notes, ensure daily filing, and maintain accurate tracking of incoming patient records. Additionally, you’ll make sure Electronic Discharge Letters are completed promptly at the time of discharge, facilitating timely filing for the coding department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clerical support for patient admissions, transfers, and discharges
  • Greet and direct visitors, managing non-medical phone calls and emails
  • Update the ward’s white board and maintain accurate bed state information
  • Book porters for various tasks using the i.serco system
  • Manage patient notes, including requesting, collecting, filing, and tracking
  • Ensure timely completion and filing of Electronic Discharge Letters
  • Support the Ward Manager or Deputy in administrative tasks
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to data protection guidelines
