Job Description: Practice Nurse at Tavyside Health Centre

Position Overview

  • Job Title: Practice Nurse
  • Location: Abbey Rise, Tavistock PL19
  • Pay: £19.50 – £24.50 per hour
  • Hours: Part-time, 16-20 hours per week, over one to three days

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Duties:
    • Infection prevention and control
    • Chronic disease management (Asthma, COPD, Diabetes, Hypertension)
    • Health promotion and education
    • Wound care, suture and staple removal
    • ECGs, venepuncture, immunizations (routine, childhood, travel)
    • Women’s health services (cervical cytology, contraception)
    • Spirometry
  • Supportive Duties:
    • Collaborate with the practice management team to review and deliver clinical policies and procedures
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives
    • Provide mentorship and educational support to team members

Qualifications

  • Essential:
    • Registered Nurse (Nursing and Midwifery Council)
    • GCSE Grade A to C in English and Maths
  • Desirable:
    • Qualifications in Respiratory Care, chronic disease management, or family planning
    • Experience in a primary care environment
